ACNA Constitution and Canons Title III.4.2 lists "The Missionary Work of the Church" as the 8th subject of examination required for all persons seeking ordination as Presbyter. This subject is defined as, "How the Gospel has been passed from one language, tribe and nation to another; basic principles of cross-cultural communication; mission strategies; and personal relational evangelism and apologetics."

The ACNA West divides the Missionary Work of the Church into the following subcatagories:

  1. History of Christian Mission
    1. How gospel has been passed from one language, tribe, nation to another
    2. Missionary connection with Monasticism
    3. Modern Missionary Movements
  2. Paradigms for Mission
    1. Missiology and ecclesiology
    2. Mission Strategies
    3. Personal relational evangelism and apologetics
  3. The Practices of Mission
    1. Basic principles of cross-cultural communication
    2. Church Planting
    3. Re-engineering from the mission field backwards
  4. Mission in 21st Century North America
    1. Missional Implications of Technology
    2. Post-Christian America
