Sacramental Life
The 1662 Catechism teaches that a “sacrament is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. God gives us the sign as a means whereby we receive that grace, and as a tangible assurance that we do in fact receive it.”
The candidate for ordination must be able to articulate the ways that God’s grace is given in and through the two sacraments of our Lord and the five sacraments of the Church.
Baptism and Holy Eucharist are the Two Sacraments of our Lord.
Reconciliation, Confirmation, Ordination, Holy Matrimony and Holy Unction are the sacraments commonly referred to as the Sacraments of the Church
The Candidate should be able to articulate the power of the sacraments in the changing lives of the People of God.
As Anglican Christians we are people of Word and Sacrament. In the Word of God, we learn about God his will and his character. In the sacraments we are invited to experience an intimate relationship of God and His love. As In the Anglican context this is a relationship that is “both and” rather “than either or.”
