Modern Interpretive Methods

The historical-critical method, developed in the 19th-century, has dominated exegesis in the past several generations. However, over the pats 50 years different so-called "contextual" readings have developed (i.e. theologies of liberation), as well canonical and theological readings of biblical texts.
